Lego expands production in China
The Lego factory in the Chinese city of Jiaxing is expanding its production base. The LEGO Group undertook this reorganization in order to meet the demand for its products in the Asian region, and, first of all, in the Middle Kingdom. The Danish company’s factory in Jiaxing has been operating since 2016 and now employs 1,200 people. The company has played and continues to play a central role in promoting Lego sets in the Chinese market. Suffice it to say that in 5 years we managed to increase the production and sale of prefabricated toys by 2 times.
Along the way, the trading network is expanding. At the very end of 2021, the 300th Lego store in the world opened in the city of Haining, not far from Jiaxing.
The expansion of the factory includes the construction of a high-level automated warehouse, a building for the processing of Lego parts, as well as a foundry. Thus, by the final stage of the transformation, which is scheduled for 2024, the total production area occupied by the plant will increase by another 42 thousand square meters. meters.
- In recent years, we have seen strong demand for fun, creative, high-quality and safe LEGO games across Asia and especially China,” said LEGO Group COO Carsten Rasmussen. “To ensure that we can delight even more children and fans, we are investing in expanding production capacity and new equipment at our factory in Jiaxing.
It should be noted that the Chinese Lego factory in Jiaxing uses a full production cycle, starting with the production of cubes and molding elements, ending with the packaging of sets in branded boxes.
