The impressive size also allowed the spacecraft to be detailed using modern technology. However, important design features of the original are reproduced exactly as they were in the old version. For example, the surface of the wing remained uneven, formed by a double row of tiles along the edge. At the same time, the engines have become more realistic.
Plus, as is clear from the images on the back of the box, the engines of this model perform 2 functions:
- along with the original purpose, each of them can be undocked from the design of the aircraft,
- then used as independent space gliders.
It remains only to seat one astronaut and send it flying in a kind of mini-speeder. This innovation is a well-forgotten old one: in the previous «space» sets, such a transformation was very popular.
The interior of the new Galaxy Explorer has been significantly expanded. A lock door appeared between the loading room and the crew area, a small infirmary with sun loungers, the situation in the control center was significantly changed, which was supplemented by many monitors and consoles. It is important that all four astronauts will fit comfortably in front of the cabin — they will sit in 2 rows.
Presumably the constructor 10497 LEGO Galaxy Explorer (or LEGO Icons) Space Explorer It will hit stores September 1st. Unlike the large castle of the Knights of the Lion, it will be sold freely, and not only in Lego stores. And the set will also be more affordable: 129.95 euros against 399.99 euros for the castle.
