Among the hundreds of projects proposed by the participants of the Lego idea contest, this work successfully passed the qualifying stage. Wherein new rubik’s cube idea, developed by a fan of the «world of cubes» under the nickname puzzLEGO1 on October 27, in just one week, gained the coveted 10,000 votes of construction fans! Thus, the project turned out to be one of the fastest and set a kind of record: such operational support happened for the first time in the history of the LEGO Ideas crowdsourcing platform.
Now, in early January, the original set will be considered by an authoritative jury of the Danish company, along with twelve other candidates to become a real Lego constructor. The projects that win the final are put into production as an official set.
What attracted fans of designing this project? It should be immediately noted that among the other eleven winners of the qualifying round, the Rubik’s Cube does not have an attractive design. Lego fans were attracted, most likely, by the same thing that made the original prototype so popular in its time, that is, the mechanism of the model.
The proposed prefabricated version in this regard is not only a good copy of a real Rubik’s cube.
