Designer inspired to create real technology

Nothing like this has ever happened before in the history of the Danish company. But let’s get it right. In 2018, the designer saw the white light 42081 LEGO Technic «VOLVO ZEUX Wheel Loader». It offered a model of a completely new technique, equipped with many realistic details and elements. Most construction fans assumed that it was nevertheless made by Lego designers based on some kind of real prototype.
What was the surprise when it became known that such a technique did not exist then in reality. This came to light recently when the LEGO Group and Volvo released a real forklift copied from a toy model to the public. So, for the first time, a Lego set inspired Volvo engineers to develop real technology.
Melker Jernberg, president of Volvo Construction Equipment, said:
“We need to transform the construction industry with smarter and more sustainable solutions that will have an impact on a global scale. Today’s unveiling of the LX03 prototype represents just that – and is a testament to the incredible expertise of our engineers and our shared commitment to positive change. Together with the LEGO Group, we are pushing the boundaries of both technology and imagination, and the result is beyond anything the world has seen before.”

“Our two companies have enjoyed an extremely successful partnership over the years, in which we have collaborated on several LEGO Technic models. But this is the first time we’re building a real car from a model, and not the other way around, and that’s what makes this project truly unique.»
