The thirty-sixth author’s project, for which 10 thousand votes were given by visitors to the LEGO Ideas website, was the author’s set «Antique cash register». It was submitted for discussion by construction fans by a participant in an open competition under the nickname Mehkh from Azerbaijan in mid-September 2021. It should be noted that this is his 12th project published on the Lego Ideas Platform.

The prototype of the model that passed the selection was the old cash register model 452. The set transfers to 1885, when the series was born in the USA «National cash registers». It took 2565 parts to recreate a fully functional copy of the Mexx.

The toy has a rather complex design, as well as equipment with various mechanisms that are activated by turning the side handle or twenty function buttons. Above the keyboard there are boxes with numbers reflecting the amount of purchased goods. At the same time, this cash desk issues a receipt for payment for goods and services. In the lower part there is a drawer with sections for storing coins and banknotes accepted by the seller. In general, with such a model, it is quite realistic to carry out a cash transaction, which was performed by the original version of the device in the late 19th and 20th centuries.

What are the real opportunities for the Antique Cash Register project to transform into the official Lego constructor? Quite large, because there has never been a similar model in the history of the Danish company. And even among the rejected projects LEGO Ideas. Meanwhile, as practice shows, sets with antique items are in great demand in the «world of cubes».
